Introduction
pyChing is a program written in the
Python object-oriented programming language, using the Tkinter
oop interface to the Tk GUI toolkit. pyChing allows
you to 'consult' the I Ching.
The I Ching is an ancient Chinese book of wisdom, which, apart from being read as
a book, has also traditionally been consulted as an oracle. pyChing allows you to
perform an I Ching 'reading' using the coin oracle, and then look up a brief
interpretation from the I Ching. Some further introductory material on the I Ching
itself is also available from within the program.
pyChing is copyrighted, freely available software published under the terms of the
GNU General Public License, which can be viewed
here.
Python and
Tk are available for many different platforms,
including Linux/Unix/X11, MacOs/OSX and Windows, and pyChing should be able to run on
most of the platforms that Python and Tk support. However, development, and most of
the testing of pyChing, have taken place on Linux, with a little testing on windows,
so your milage on other platforms may vary. See the note on the download page
about bug reports.
Notes on system requirements are available on the download page.
You can find out a little more about pyChing and some of its features by viewing
pyChing's
readme  file.
Some
screen  shots
of pyChing in action, are also available.
